About
Conceived during the shelter at home order during the Covid-19 pandemic in April 2020, “I’d Kill For a Date” is produced and written by Hank Wethington, Sarah Ruth Smith, Greg DeMartini and Redzuan Abdul Rahim, with help from Kelly Nichols and Joseph Whittington. This show explores what happens when Kat is stuck in a town and no longer can get out to meet new people. How far will Kat go to fulfill her desires? How far will she push each person to get what she wants?
Cast
Hank Wethington - Producer / Actor
Hank works in corporate learning and talent development for a large agency/consultancy by day, and spend his evenings pursuing his passion for acting and writing. After finding acting later in life, Hank has gone on to play some of what he considers the most amazing roles; Llyod Dallas in Noises Off, Professor Callahan in Leagally Blonde, The Musical, and most recently, Elwood P. Dowd in Harvey. He’s excited to write and bring something fun to the world during this weird time.
Sarah Ruth Smith - Producer / Actor
Sarah has been acting since high school when she fell in love with singing in musicals. Growing up in Cambria, she can often be found on the Cambria Center for the Arts Theatre stage. Most recently in Harvey as Myrtle Mae Simmons. A board member at By The Sea Production, she can often be found on stage in Morro Bay, most recently in The Odd Couple.
Greg Demartini - Producer / Actor
Mr DeMartini has been seen in mainstage and musical productions alike. His vocal talents have been featured in several mobile video games and, is known for detailed character work in any project he undertakes. He is happy to be working alongside his friends in spirit, if not in person during these hard times.
Redzuan Abdul Rahim - Producer / Actor
Redzuan is excited to be part of this project and acting again. Having acted in the past in previous productions at SLO Rep, Kelrik, and Cal Poly, he cannot wait to try a new venue of artistic expression during this strange time. His favorite role is Donkey in Shrek: The Musical.
Kelly Nichols - Actor
Kelly Nichols is an actor from Mansfield, Texas. Most recently she appeared on Fox’s American Horror Story 1984, and was a SLO Film Festival Awards Finalist for Hotel Cherie. Locally, she performs onstage at Santa Maria Civic most recently seen as Karen Westin in August of Osage County, Blanche DuBois in Streetcar Named Desire, and Vivian Kensington in Legally Blonde the Musical. She has also been seen as Dolly Levi in Hello Dolly, Betty Haynes in White Christmas, and Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady.
Joseph Whittington - Actor
Joseph is a full-time essential employee and a Twitch Affiliated streamer. In these weary times, he is happy to stretch his legs in acting once again. His more notable roles in the past include Don Baker in Butterflies are Free and Laurie in the Little Women.
